Feb 24, 2025 1:53 PM

04:30 PM EST, 02/24/2025 (MT Newswires) -- US President Donald Trump said Monday that tariffs on US imports from Canada and Mexico "will go forward" after an implementation deadline expires next week, according to media reports.

"The tariffs are going forward on time, on schedule," Trump was cited as saying in a CNBC news report.

The 25% punitive import duties on Canada and Mexico are temporarily paused until March 4. The tariffs on Canadian energy resources are set at 10%.

Speaking at a news conference at The White House with the French president, Emmanuel Macron, Trump reportedly said the work to implement those tariffs is "moving along very rapidly," according to reports.
