05:43 AM EDT, 04/06/2026 (MT Newswires) -- US equity investors will be laser-focused on developments in the Iran war following President Donald Trump's expletive-laden warning to open the Strait of Hormuz, as well as watch the inflation data and the Federal Reserve meeting minutes.
* Iran will not reopen Hormuz even if a "temporary ceasefire" is agreed, Al Jazeera reported, citing a senior Iranian official speaking to Reuters. The official confirmed Iran was reviewing Pakistan's proposal for an immediate ceasefire.
* The United States, Iran, and regional mediators are discussing a potential 45-day ceasefire as part of a two-phase deal that could lead to a permanent end to the war, multiple news outlets cited US, Israeli, and regional sources in an Axios news report from Sunday.
* "Tuesday will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day, all wrapped up in one, in Iran. There will be nothing like it!!! Open the F****** Strait, you crazy b*******, or you'll be living in Hell -- JUST WATCH! Praise be to Allah," Trump said in a Truth Social post Sunday.
* Early Monday, West Texas Intermediate crude oil futures were up 1.6% to $109.73, and Brent crude futures climbed 0.5% to $108.49, following a surge on Friday. The ICE US Dollar index slipped 0.1% to 99.88. The Dow Industrial Average, Nasdaq Composite, and S&P 500 futures are trading higher ahead of the bell.
* In March, the Fed left interest rates unchanged for a 2nd consecutive meeting, in line with expectations. The minutes of this meeting are due on Wednesday, which investors will parse to understand policymakers' views on inflation, the labor market, and the path ahead for easing, if any.
* Macroeconomic data due this week includes the personal consumption and expenditures price index, the consumer price index, the final read on Q4 gross domestic product growth, Michigan consumer sentiment, durable goods orders, and ISM services.
* Quarterly earnings due this week include Levi Strauss (LEVI), Delta Airlines (DAL), Constellation Brands ( STZ ) , and WD-40 Company ( WDFC ) .
