04:11 PM EDT, 08/11/2026 (MT Newswires) -- US equity indexes ended lower Tuesday amid rising crude oil prices, Iran's uncertainty on the Strait of Hormuz reopening and a decline in tech stocks.

* "America must end the war, pay Iran's frozen assets, the war must end throughout the region, including in Lebanon and Gaza," Reuters cited Mohsen Rezaee, secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, as saying in a report from Tasnim.

* The pace of US existing home sales fell by 1.7% to a 4.06 million seasonally adjusted annual rate in July from 4.13 million in June, according to data from the National Association of Realtors. This compares with a larger expected decrease to a 4.05 million rate in a survey compiled by Bloomberg.

* Redbook US same-store sales jumped 8.3% from a year earlier in the week ended Aug. 8 after an 8.7% surge in the previous week.

* September West Texas Intermediate crude oil rose $1.32 to settle at $83.45 per barrel, while October Brent crude, the global benchmark, was last seen up $1.43 at $89.15.

* Nvidia ( NVDA ) said it partnered with Apollo (APO), BlackRock ( BLK ) , Blackstone (BX), Brookfield (BN), Goldman Sachs ( GS ) and KKR (KKR) to raise more than $500 billion in third-party capital for artificial intelligence infrastructure. KKR shares were up about 6.9%, the best performer on the S&P 500, followed by Apollo's 6.3% gain, the third-biggest gain on the index.

* AppLovin's ( APP ) 30% long-term annual revenue growth target lacks sufficient evidence, with uncertainty rising around the sustainability of its self-learning growth, BofA Securities said Tuesday in a report. Shares were down roughly 6%, the worst performer on the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq.
