US market sells off in last hour: Experts react

Geoff Lewis, Global Strategist-Capital Markets Group at Manulife AMC and James Glassman, Senior Economist at JPMorgan shared their views and readings on the global markets.

Glassman said that nothing that the US Fed said yesterday changed market participants' view.

“I do not think the Fed is the issue. I think the real issue is the uncertainty around terror threats and trade issues particularly with the Chinese situation,” he added.

Talking about Fed rate, he said the market pricing in three rate hikes from US Fed this year.

Geoff Lewis of Manulife AMC said that uncertainty regarding trade war to continue in the near-term.

According to him, market has been resilient despite uncertainty.

“My main concern would be not the Fed but the future erection of the US dollar trade rated index and whether that is now going to start strengthening. That would be a bigger headwind in my mind for emerging markets in coming weeks,” he added.
