US stock indices dip at the opening under pressure from higher treasury yields

US stock indices lost ground on Wednesday as US treasury yields rallied today ahead of important data.

Later today, important US GDP growth data will be released for the first quarter of the year.

In addition, US personal spending data will be released on Friday, which is the Feds favorite inflation gauge.

On trading, Dow Jones fell 0.9% as of 17:54 GMT, or 340 points to 38,513, while SP 500 shed 0.5%, or 25 points to 5,280, as NASDAQ slipped 0.2%, or 35 points to 16,984.

Stock Market Highlights: Indian equity benchmarks Sensex and Nifty50 made a comeback on Tuesday, snapping five days of losses, between gains and losses amid a volatile session on Tuesday. Gains in financial, auto, metal and FMCG stocks aided the recovery in the headline indices. Broader markets also strengthened, with the Nifty Midcap 100 and Nifty Smallcap 100 indices rising around one percent each. Investors awaited more financial results from India Inc and the outcome of a scheduled policy meeting of the Federal Reserve for cues.
