US STOCKS SNAPSHOT-Wall St opens higher as CPI report cements rate-cut bets

Aug 14 (Reuters) - Wall Street's main indexes opened

slightly higher on Wednesday after data showed inflation was

moderating as expected, cementing bets that the Federal Reserve

will begin its policy-easing cycle next month.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 34.9 points, or

0.09%, at the open to 39800.59. The S&P 500 rose 7.9

points, or 0.15%, at the open to 5442.36​, while the Nasdaq

Composite rose 40.0 points, or 0.23%, to 17227.64 at the

opening bell.
