The volatility in the Indian rupee also weighed on investor sentiment along with tepid global cues owing to trade war concerns and emerging market turmoil. The BSE Sensex ended 147 points higher at 38,390, up by 0.38 percent, while the NSE Nifty 50 gained 0.45 percent to close higher by 52 points at 11,589. Both midcaps ended with over 1.3 percent gains, while Nifty Bank ended in the green after volatile trade. Hero MotoCorp, Bharti Airtel, Bajaj Auto, Lupin and M&M ended higher, while Yes Bank, Sun Pharma, Adani Ports, HDFC, PowerGrid Corp and SBI dipped.
