Wall Street Set to Open Higher Friday as Investors Shake Off Bad Week

09:11 AM EST, 12/13/2024 (MT Newswires) -- US stocks look set to open higher in Friday's trading session as investors look to shake off a down week and end it on a positive note.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average futures were up 0.06%, S&P 500 futures gained 0.29%, and Nasdaq futures were rising 0.79%.

Oil prices were moving higher, with front-month global benchmarks Brent crude and West Texas Intermediate crude rising 0.29% and 0.37% respectively.

In other world markets, Japan's Nikkei fell 0.95%, Hong Kong's Hang Seng tumbled 2.09%, and China's Shanghai Composite dropped 2.01%. Meanwhile in Europe's early afternoon session, the UK's FTSE 100 was up 0.06%, while Germany's up DAX and France's CAC were up 0.1% and 0.25% respectively.

In equities, shares of TruGolf ( TRUG ) jumped 58% in Friday's premarket session, adding to Thursday's 18% gain. Loop Industries ( LOOP ) shares surged 38% after it said Thursday that it secured 10 million euros ($10.5 million) through a convertible preferred security financing with Reed Societe Generale Group. Shares of VCI Global ( VCIG ) advanced 25% in Friday's premarket session, following a nearly 5% loss the previous session. SPI Energy's ( SPI ) stock climbed 27%, adding to a 14% gain on Thursday. And shares of Broadcom ( AVGO ) rose 18% after it reported stronger fiscal Q4 results Friday.

On the losing side, shares of Repare Therapeutics ( RPTX ) plunged nearly 40% after it reported Thursday results from a phase 1 trial of cancer drugs lunresertib and camonsertib that disappointed investors. Candel Therapeutics ( CADL ) shares tumbled 34% after it said late Thursday that it priced a public offering of shares and pre-funded warrants for approximately $80 million in gross proceeds. Shares of Inovio Pharmaceuticals ( INO ) dropped 33% after it priced an underwritten public offering Thursday of shares and warrants for gross proceeds of $30 million. Nuburu's ( BURU ) stock fell 28%, after soaring 102% the previous session. And shares of Eagle Point Institutional Income Fund ( EIIA ) dropped 20% following a marginal gain on Thursday.
