09:21 AM EDT, 05/17/2024 (MT Newswires) -- US stocks look set to open marginally higher in Friday's trading session following a busy week of earnings and inflation data, and ahead of the index of leading economic indicators and the Baker Hughes rig count coming out later in the day.
Dow Jones Industrial Average futures were up 0.03%, S&P 500 futures were rising 0.06%, and Nasdaq futures were moving 0.1% higher.
Oil prices were moving higher, with front-month global benchmarks North Sea Brent crude up 0.5% at $83.69 per barrel and US West Texas Intermediate crude rising 0.7% at $79.30 per barrel.
In other world markets, Japan's Nikkei declined 0.3%, Hong Kong's Hang Seng rose 0.9%, and China's Shanghai Composite climbed 1.0%. Meanwhile in Europe's early afternoon session, the UK's FTSE 100 was off 0.3%, while Germany's DAX 30 was down 0.3% while France's CAC 40 was down 0.5%.
On the winning side, shares of Fangdd Network Group ( DUO ) skyrocketed 283% in Friday's premarket session, following a marginal gain the previous session. Akanda Corp. (AKAN) shares soared 153%, adding to a 27% gain on Thursday. Shares of Brenmiller Energy ( BNRG ) jumped 63% after it reported Friday "substantial growth" in its project pipeline. FLJ Group ( FLJ ) stock surged 90%, adding to a nearly 6% gain on Thursday. Greenwave Technology Solutions ( GWAV ) shares advanced 47% after it said in a regulatory filing Thursday that it signed an exchange agreement with DWM Properties to exchange 1,000 series D preferred shares of Greenwave held by the holder for 200,000 common shares of the company.
On the losing side, shares of AmpliTech Group ( AMPG ) dropped 36% after it said in a regulatory filing late Thursday that it will be unable to file its quarterly report for the period ended March 31. DXC Technology ( DXC ) shares tumbled 21% after it said late Thursday that its fiscal Q4 earnings and revenue declined from a year earlier. GameStop's ( GME ) stock was down 21%, adding to a 30% loss the previous session. Shares of E-Home Household Service ( EJH ) lost over 31%, more than wiping out Thursday's 9.6% gain. And Cracker Barrel Old Country Store ( CBRL ) shares fell nearly 12%, a day after it cut its quarterly dividend to $0.25 per share.
