KL Rahul scored 66 runs off 107 balls after Australia India lost three wickets within 100 runs. He played cautiously and hit only one boundary during his knock as the runs were not coming easily on Ahmedabad's slow track.

After the wicket of Ravindra Jadeja, Suryakumar Yadav came in to bat, however, even he struggled on this tricky track and scored only 18 runs off 28 balls that included only a boundary. He swung the bat on multiple occasions as Australian pacers bowled slower deliveries to him. After his wicket, the tail-enders added another 14 runs to finish the Indian innings at 240 runs.

Chasing a below par target of 241 runs, Australia started with a bang, hitting 15 runs in the first over, before Shami forced Warner to edge the ball in the hands of Virat Kohli in slip to provide India the first breakthrough.

Jasprit Bumrah brought India back in the game with the wickets of Mitchell Marsh and Steven Smith in quick succession.

After the fall of three wickets in the powerplay, Travis Head smashed a century after finding his feet in the middle to power the Aussies towards their sixth World Cup title.

India looked to put more pressure over the Aussies after three wickets within powerplay, however, Travis Head and Marnus Labuschagne ensured to pull the momentum towards Australia by forming an unbeaten partnership of more than 150 runs.

Australia won the match by six wickets and seven overs remaining as Marnus Labuschagne scored a half-century after Travis Head smashed a ton to guide Australia to their sixth World Cup title.

Coming into this match with eight wins on the bounce, Australia defeated the unbeaten India in the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad to lift the coveted Trophy again after eight years.
