Network18 to launch its weekly newspaper 'Firstpost' on Republic Day
Jan 18, 2019 3:30 AM

Network18 is set to launch its first weekly newspaper Firstpost on January 26. The launch will mark the entry of the digital-only brand to the print platform.

The newspaper, a 20-page broadsheet appearing every Saturday, will emphasise on narrative, long format journalism with a focus on national politics, culture, and art.

A press release by the group stated, "Firstpost print will be an amalgam of contemporary journalism delivered with conventional panache."

According to the release, the paper will hit the stands in Delhi and Mumbai on republic day and will be available for subscription in certain pincodes of these cities. People can subscribe to the paper either through vendors or by using the online method.

“Firstpost is a new kind of newspaper. Instead of the usual, mundane recounting of events already well-known to readers through digital media and television, every single article aspires to exceptionality; to offer a unique perspective; to excavate new information; to bring to life a new story,” said Praveen Swami, Group Consulting Editor, Network18.

Rahul Kansal, Business Head, Print & Brand Advisor, Network18, said that the weekly paper will see itself as a ‘viewspaper,’ that will focus on politics and give a ringside view of the ‘complex democracy and society of our multi-dimensional nation.’

Speaking about the launch, BV Rao, Editor, Firstpost said that the move reveals the opportunity available today for deep, thoughtful and reflective journalism.

Disclosure:

Network18 is the parent company of CNBCTV18.com.
