Jul 23, 2018 3:28 AM

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is gearing up to execute highway projects worth Rs 2.25 lakh crore and of 15,000 km in length, reported Business Standard.

The NHAI will double down on these projects because the requisite clearances are in place allowing, the report said citing an unnamed senior official.

Ahead of the next year general elections, the authorities will primarily focus on executing the existing projects, said the report. However, it added that the NHAI will not shy away from tendering new contracts.

Last financial year, the NHAI had awarded 150 projects of 7,400 km, worth Rs 1.2 lakh crore, the report said.
