The United Nations' Asia-Pacific Group of 55 countries endorsed India's non-permanent membership on the Security Council for a two-year term from 2021 to 2022.
Each year the General Assembly elects five non-permanent members for a two-year term. Elections for five non-permanent members of the 15-nation Council for the term will be held around June 2020. Syed Akbaruddin, India's permanent representative at the UN, tweeted thanking the members.
