Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said his government has taken a "historic" decision on Jammu and Kashmir by revoking Article 370, which has not given anything except separatism, corruption, terrorism and family rule.

In his televised address to the nation, Modi said a new era has begun in Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh.

The provisions of the Article 370 and Article 35A did not give anything except separatism, corruption, terrorism and family rule, Modi said.

Article 370 was a source of terror and corruption.

Minimum Wages Act did not apply to J&K under Article 370

There will be a tatkal review of allowances like LTC, house rent allowance etc and then made available for J&K police and other govt employees.

There are strict laws about atrocities on dalits and minorities. J&K did not have these laws.

Private sector, PSUs will be encouraged to create jobs in J&K and Ladakh.

PM scholarship scheme will be extended to the students of J&K.

Won't need to keep J&K as a Union Territory after the development of the region.

We hope Hindi, Telugu and Tamil cinema industries throng J&K.

The government will ensure that there will be no troubles during Eid celebrations in the state.
