Bharatiya Janata Party's state women president Agnimitra Paul has won the Asansol Dakshin seat by 1,800 votes against Sayani Ghosh of All India Trinamool Congress (AITC).
Asansol Dakshin is an Assembly constituency in the Paschim Bardhaman district, in the South West Bengal region of West Bengal. The Asansol Dakshin constituency went to polls on April 26, 2021.

In the 2016 Assembly elections, Asansol Dakshin was won by Tapas Banerjee of CPIM. Before that, in the 2011 elections, the seat was held by Tapas Banerjee of TMC. In the 2016 assembly polls, Tapas Banerjee garnered 71515 votes, securing over 38.54 percent of the vote share, and winning the seat by a margin of 14283 votes.
In percentage terms, the victory margin was 7.7 percent. The constituency polled 185704 votes in the 2016 West Bengal assembly polls with a voter turnout of 75.07 percent. The Asansol Dakshin constituency has a literacy level of 77.15 percent. A total of 6 candidates stood in the 2016 elections.
