Baranagar is an Assembly constituency in the North 24 Parganas district, in the Greater Kolkata region of West Bengal.

In the 2016 Assembly elections, Baranagar was won by Tapas Roy of RSP. Before that, in the 2011 elections, the seat was held by Tapas Roy of TMC.
In the 2016 assembly polls, Tapas Roy garnered 76531 votes, securing over 48.79 percent of the vote share, and winning the seat by a margin of 16100 votes. In percentage terms, the victory margin was 10.26 percent.
The constituency polled 156924 votes in the 2016 West Bengal assembly polls with a voter turnout of 77.01 percent.
The Baranagar constituency has a literacy level of 84.95 percent. A total of 6 candidates stood in the 2016 elections.
