BJP's new slogan reflects Modi government's failure, says Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala
Sep 18, 2018 12:26 PM

The battle for 2019 Lok Sabha elections is heating up. What is the Congress' big game plan for 2019 and will the party be able to script a turnaround after the failure of 2014? CNBC-TV18 caught up with Randeep Singh Surjewala, in-charge of Congress communications cell, to discuss the party's strategy.

The BJPs slogan of Ajay Bharat, Atal BJP itself reflects the failure of Narendra Modi government, said Surjewala.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi coined the slogan in the recently concluded BJP's national executive meet as he highlighted the party's commitment to India's progress.

"BJP's slogan in 2014 was "Abki Baar Modi Sarkar", and the fact that the word Modi is missing from the new slogan is a concession of defeat and rejection of Narendra Modi's leadership by the party," he said.

A nervous prime minister and an unnerved BJP is resorting to sloganeering in which they themselves do not believe in, added Surjewala.

There has been a decisive rejection of leadership of Modi and the way he has conducted business in this country, he said.
