The Congress is likely to field former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda as Lok Sabha candidate from Haryana, reported The Economic Times.

As per the report, the party will also field some of the MLAs in order to counter BJP in the state.

Congress expects that fielding of prominent leaders into the fray will help it to negate the upper hand BJP gained after the Balakot airstrike, the report said citing party insiders.

Further, the general feeling that the results of the Lok Sabha elections could directly impact next year's assembly polls too has prompted the grand old party to take this step, the report added.
