The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for questioning in connection with the ongoing investigation into the city's liquor policy. Kejriwal is scheduled to appear before the agency on Thursday, November 2, 2023.
The summons were issued on the same day that the Supreme Court rejected the bail plea of Manish Sisodia, his former deputy. The Supreme Court directed that the trials for the cases under investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the ED against him be completed within the next 8 months.
Sisodia has been in custody since his arrest by the CBI and subsequently by the ED in March of this year.
His arrest is related to a case concerning the now-defunct excise policy. In addition to Sisodia, Sanjay Singh, a Member of Parliament from the Aam Aadmi Party, was also apprehended by the ED on October 4 as part of the agency's investigation into money laundering. He is currently in judicial custody until November 10.
