CPM candidate and chief minister of Kerala has emerged victorious from the CPM stronghold of Dharmadam. The incumbent Kerala CM was well ahead of his nearest rivals--C Raghunathan of INC and CK Padmanabhan of BJP.
Dharmadam is an Assembly constituency in the Kannur district, in the Malabar region of Kerala.The Dharmadam constituency went to polls on April 6, 2021.

In the 2016 Assembly elections, Dharmadam was won by Pinarayi Vijayan of IND.
Before that, in the 2011 elections, the seat was held by K.K. Narayanan of CPIM.
In the 2016 assembly polls, Pinarayi Vijayan garnered 87329 votes, securing over 56.84 percent of the vote share, and winning the seat by a margin of 36905 votes.
In percentage terms, the victory margin was 24.02 percent.
The constituency polled 153680 votes in the 2016 Kerala assembly polls with a voter turnout of 83.33 percent.
The Dharmadam constituency has a literacy level of 95.41 percent.
A total of 7 candidates stood in the 2016 elections.
