A day after the 2019 Lok Sabha polls came to an end and most exit polls projected BJP in a comfortable position in Haryana, the saffron party Monday said it has started preparations for the assembly polls in the state, due in October.The state unit of the BJP held a meeting in Rohtak, which was attended by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and state unit chief Subhash Barala.The meeting was also attended by majority of the candidates who fought the Lok Sabha polls which were held in the state in sixth phase of polling on May 12.Haryana has 10 Lok Sabha seats and in 2014, the party had won seven of the eight seats it fought.

Delhi BJP president Manoj Tiwari on Monday demanded a probe into the death of a Delhi police sub-inspector in Vivek Vihar area, saying society has no place for"goondaism and urban naxalism".The 58-year-old sub-inspector Raj Kumar died after he was allegedly assaulted following a quarrel with a suspected criminal in Shahdara's Vivek Vihar area, officials said.Tiwari condoled the death of Kumar and prayed for the bereaved family."....Proper enquiry should be conducted and culprits should be punished as Goondaism & Urban Naxalism should have no place in the society," Tiwari tweeted.Preliminary post-mortem report revealed Kumar died due to cardiac arrest, police said.

The Aam Aadmi Party on Monday asked the Election Commission to provide additional security at a counting centre in South Delhi, alleging that political opponents plan to manipulate EVMs ahead of the announcement of poll results on May 23.The letter by AAP's South Delhi candidate and spokesperson Raghav Chadha said that "he has strong reasons to believe that the political adversaries will attempt to open the strong rooms and manipulate or replace the machines as a handful of such incidents have been seen in the past"."Alarming as it may be, this would not be the first time that an attack on the electoral system may take place," he said in the letter to CEC Sunil Arora.

Top leaders of the BJP-led NDA will meet over dinner on Tuesday with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP president Amit Shah expected to be present, party sources said on Monday.Bihar Chief Minister and JD(U) president Nitish Kumar, Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray and Lok Janshakti Party head Ram Vilas Paswan are likely to attend the meeting, which will take place two days before the counting of votes for the Lok Sabha polls on May 23.A meeting of key BJP leaders, including Union Ministers, is also scheduled to be held in the party headquarters before the dinner meeting with allies.
