Congress general secretary in-charge of Uttar Pradesh East, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Friday has strongly dismissed the charges that her brother, Rahul Gandhi, is a "reluctant politician."

In an exclusive interaction with CNN-News18's Pallavi Ghosh, Priyanka added that the Congress president is fully committed to the job at hand, "It is ridiculous to state that she is in politics because Rahul has failed."

“This election is going to be a referendum on the crisis of unemployment and the farmer distress that has been caused in the last five years by the Narendra Modi government,” she added.

Speaking about the Amethi constituency, Priyanka said, "Smriti Irani has been to Amethi all of 16 times and each time she has spent about 4-5 hours in Amethi. My brother has been to Amethi more than double that time in the same time period. He stays there, goes village-to-village, listens to people and he understands their issues. Rahul is the only one who has worked for Amethi. All the projects, which were inaugurated by him and started by him have been stopped by Irani and her party."
