Kashmir remains tense as govt proposes to scrap Article 370, Article 35A

SUMMARY

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government on Monday initiated a revocation of Article 370 and Article 35A, which gives special rights and privileges to the citizens of Jammu and Kashmir in government jobs and land. Home Minister Amit Shah told members of the Rajya Sabha that the government has also decided to split the state into two union territories — Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.
