Kollam Election Result 2021 LIVE: CPM's Mukesh defeats Bindhu Krishan

Communist Party of India's (Marxist) Mukesh has won the Kollam assembly seat in Kerala defeating Congress candidate Advocate Bindhu Krishan.

Kollam is an Assembly constituency in the Kollam district, in the Travancore region of Kerala. The Kollam constituency went to the polls on April 6, 2021. The assembly seat is reserved for the General category.

In the 2016 Assembly elections, Kollam was won by M Mukesh of INC.Before that, in the 2011 elections, the seat was held by P.K.Gurudasan of CPIM.

In the 2016 assembly polls, M Mukesh garnered 63103 votes, securing over 48.81 percent of the vote share, and winning the seat by a margin of 17611 votes.

In percentage terms, the victory margin was 13.62 percent.

The constituency polled 129288 votes in the 2016 Kerala assembly polls with a voter turnout of 74.93 percent.

The Kollam constituency has a literacy level of 93.77 percent.

A total of 8 candidates stood in the 2016 elections.
