Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan of Congress has won the Kottayam assembly seat in Kerala by defeating the Communist Party of India's (Marxist) Adv K Anilkumar.

Kottayam is an Assembly constituency in the Kottayam district, in the Travancore region of Kerala. The Kottayam constituency went to the polls on April 6, 2021. The assembly seat is reserved for the General category.

In the 2016 Assembly elections, Kottayam was won by Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan of CPIM. Before that, in the 2011 elections, the seat was held by Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan of INC.

In the 2016 assembly polls, Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan garnered 73894 votes, securing over 57.46 percent of the vote share, and winning the seat by a margin of 33632 votes.

In percentage terms, the victory margin was 26.15 percent. The constituency polled 128625 votes in the 2016 Kerala assembly polls with a voter turnout of 78.38 percent. The Kottayam constituency has a literacy level of 96.4 percent. A total of 9 candidates stood in the 2016 elections.
