The Delhi BJP on Friday alleged that the "Chinese social media applications on Facebook" are spreading misinformation about the party and asked the Election Commission to take action against their interference in the poll process. In a letter to the Election Commission, the party said advertisements on the apps are being created and shared "with an intention to create a disinformation campaign against our party".The party also demanded legal action against the apps.Citing a media report about Facebook taking down some political ads by an app, the party said the app owned by a Chinese firm "has been a known hub for fake news content".The letter stated that such platforms, which do not have a significant presence in the country are known to be "hubs for problematic content including child pornography, fake news and other such content".

Vote for New Bharat, says Modi in Telangana; enlists NDA's achievements ## Vote for New Bharat, says Modi in Telangana; enlists NDA's achievements

Asking the people of Telangana to vote for a "new Bharat" where the people of the state will also benefit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi Friday said the citizens in the country were moving forward sans any fear as the 'chowkidar' has been 'alert.'Addressing a mammoth public rally here, he took a swipe at Chief Minister K Chandrasekar Rao for the delay in forming the cabinet after securing a massive win last year, saying the latter must have been influenced by some astrologer.Rao is said to be a firm believer in rituals and astrology. The Prime Minister described Rao as the "face" of dynastic and appeasement politics. Launching his Lok Sabha poll campaign in the southern state, where BJP is going alone contesting all 17 seats, Modi said despite abuses and attacks against him, he has steadfastly moved ahead with his development agenda due to the'blessings' of the people.

Our manifesto will reflect people's voice, not one man's view, says Rahul Gandhi ## Our manifesto will reflect people's voice, not one man's view, says Rahul Gandhi

The Congress' soon-to-be released manifesto will lay major thrust on jobs creation, addressing agrarian distress and strengthening the education and health sectors besides charting a roadmap to boost economic growth, says party president Rahul Gandhi. He said the manifesto, being prepared after extensive nationwide consultations with key stakeholders, will reflect the people's voice and not just one man's views, an apparent reference to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.In an exclusive interview to PTI, the 48-year-old Congress chief said the Congress-led UPA is storming back to power as people have rejected Modi's politics of "false promises"."We want India's voice and aspirations to prosper. We don't believe in one man's voice. We believe in everyone's voice and choices. It requires tremendous discipline and hard work to do, but it works," he said.Congress is set to release its manifesto next week, ahead of the first phase of polling on April 11.Without divulging specific details of the manifesto, Gandhi said it will have a well-thought out "strategic plan" for creation of jobs on a "huge scale" and a roadmap for transformation of the agriculture sector, besides ways to boost small businesses and the economy at large.

Mahagathbandhan comes out with final allocation of seats ## Mahagathbandhan comes out with final allocation of seats

After a prolonged tug-of-war among its partners, the 'mahagathbandhan' (Grand Alliance) in Bihar finally allocated all of the 40 Lok Sabha seats on Friday, announcing candidature of Misa Bharti from Pataliputra, Congress' Meira Kumar from Sasaram and RJD leader Abdul Bari Siddiqui's from Darbhanga. As per the seat-sharing formula, the RJD has got 20 seats, out of which it is giving up one for the ultra-Left party, the Congress has nine, followed by five for Upendra Kushwaha's RLSP and three each for Jitan Ram Manjhi's HAM and Mukesh Sahni's VIP.The announcement was made by Tejashwi Yadav at a press conference on Friday, but absence of any senior Congress leader on the occasion showed the party's displeasure over arm-twisting by Lalu Prasad's RJD.The announcement of Abdul Bari Siddiqui's name from Darbhanga draws the curtains on possibility of sitting MP Kirti Azad seeking re-election as a Congress candidate, who recently joined the party after quitting the BJP.Speculation is rife that the absence of senior Congress leaders at the press conference, where former MLC Narendra Kumar Singh was a representative, is an indication of its leadership being sore over being arm-twisted by the RJD to give up its claim on the seat, resulting in an embarrassment to AICC chief Rahul Gandhi, who inducted Azad with fanfare.
