India is gearing up for the 17th Lok Sabha elections, which is scheduled to be held in less than 10 days from now. To bring you the pulse of the voter and the big newsmakers, CNBC-TV18 went to Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh, and checked on what strategic importance sugarcane farmers hold for the constituency.

The sugarcane farmers could play a decisive role in this election. Fifty percent of the country’s sugarcane production comes from western Uttar Pradesh. The farmers in the state are upset over unpaid dues.
