Kerala's 'Rockstar' health minister and CPM candidate K K Shailaja has won the Mattannur assembly seat in Kerala by 61,000 votes, defeating Illikkal Augusthy of the Revolutionary Socialist Party.
Mattannur is an Assembly constituency in the Kannur district, in the Malabar region of Kerala. The Mattannur constituency went to the polls on April 6, 2021.

In the 2016 Assembly elections, Mattannur was won by E. P. Jayarajan of SJD.
Before that, in the 2011 elections, the seat was held by E.P.Jayarajan of CPIM.
In the 2016 assembly polls, E. P. Jayarajan garnered 84030 votes, securing over 56.52 percent of the vote share, and winning the seat by a margin of 43381 votes.
In percentage terms, the victory margin was 29.18 percent. The constituency polled 148719 votes in the 2016 Kerala assembly polls with a voter turnout of 83.59 percent. The Mattannur constituency has a literacy level of 95.41 percent. A total of 6 candidates stood in the 2016 elections.
