Richards Johnkumar of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won in the Nellithope assembly constituency, defeating V. Cartigueyane of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK). He won with a margin of 496 votes.

While Richards Johnkumar (winner) had 11,563 votes, V. Cartigueyane (who came second) had 11,117 votes, the data available on the ECI website showed.

Nellithope is an Assembly constituency in the Pondicherry district, in the Pondicherry region of Puducherry.

The Nellithope constituency went to polls on April 6, 2021.

The assembly seat is reserved for the General category.

In the 2016 Assembly elections, Nellithope was won by A. Johnkumar of DMK.

Before that, in the 2011 elections, the seat was held by Omsakthi Sekar of ADMK.

In the 2016 assembly polls, A. Johnkumar garnered 18506 votes, securing over 69.16 percent of the vote share, and winning the seat by a margin of 12141 votes.

In percentage terms, the victory margin was 45.37 percent.

The constituency polled 26795 votes in the 2016 Puducherry assembly polls with a voter turnout of 85.43 percent.

The Nellithope constituency has a literacy level of 85.44 percent.

A total of 13 candidates stood in the 2016 elections.
