V Sivankutty of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has won the Nemom assembly seat in Kerala by defeating the former Meghalaya governor and senior party leader of the BJP, Kummanam Rajasekharan.
Nemom is an Assembly constituency in the Thiruvananthapuram district, in the Travancore region of Kerala. The Nemom constituency went to polls on April 6, 2021.

In the 2016 Assembly elections, Nemom was won by O.Rajagopal of BJP. Before that, in the 2011 elections, the seat was held by V.Sivankutty of CPIM.
In the 2016 assembly polls, O.Rajagopal garnered 67813 votes, securing over 47.46 percent of the vote share, and winning the seat by a margin of 8671 votes. In percentage terms, the victory margin was 6.07 percent.
The constituency polled 142914 votes in the 2016 Kerala assembly polls with a voter turnout of 74.26 percent. The Nemom constituency has a literacy level of 92.66 percent. A total of 9 candidates stood in the 2016 elections.
