Nripendra Misra has been reappointed as the principal secretary to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi with Cabinet rank.
“The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of Shri Nripendra Misra, IAS (Retired) as Principal Secretary to Prime Minister with effect from 31st May, 2019”, an official order said.
“His appointment will be co-terminus with the term of the Prime Minister or until further orders, whichever is earlier. During the term of his office, he will be assigned the rank of Cabinet Minister in the Table of Precedence”, the order added.
Further, PK Mishra has been reappointed as the additional principal secretary to the prime minister in rank of cabinet minister, PTI reported.
A 1967 batch IAS officer, Misra served as the principal secretary to Modi in his first five-year term beginning 2014.
The Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance won the 2019 Lok Sabha elections with an overwhelming mandate and Modi was sworn in as the prime minister for a second five-year term on May 23.
