Omalur is an Assembly constituency in the Salem district, in the North region of Tamil Nadu.

In the 2016 Assembly elections, Omalur was won by Vetrivel S of AIADMK.

Before that, in the 2011 elections, the seat was held by Krishnan C of AIADMK.

In the 2016 assembly polls, Vetrivel S garnered 89169 votes, securing over 39.23 percent of the vote share, and winning the seat by a margin of 19956 votes.

In percentage terms, the victory margin was 8.78 percent.

The constituency polled 227472 votes in the 2016 Tamil Nadu assembly polls with a voter turnout of 85.55 percent.

The Omalur constituency has a literacy level of 73.23 percent.

A total of 20 candidates stood in the 2016 elections.
