Pak Foreign Minister Qureshi says Jaish chief Masood Azhar is in Pakistan, keeping unwell: report
Mar 1, 2019 12:24 AM

Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, in an interview with CNN, confirmed that Jaish-e-Mohammad chief Masood Azhar is in Pakistan, but said he is "very unwell and is unwell to an extent that he cannot leave his house".

Qureshi told CNN that in order to arrest him, India will have to provide "solid" evidence so that Pakistan can take legal action against him.

Qureshi asserted that Azhar will be required to go through legal proceedings and the charges against him "will have to justify" in the courts of Pakistan before any tough action is taken against him.

For listing Azhar as a global terrorist, Qureshi said that Pakistan "will welcome any step that leads to de-escalation'. Qureshi urged India to initiate a dialogue and affirmed that Pakistan will show feasibleness.

Tensions between the nuclear-armed nations flared up earlier this month with both sides claiming they'd shot down each other's fighter jets on Wednesday, and Pakistan capturing an Indian pilot.

On Thursday, Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan announced that the captured Indian pilot Abhinandan Varthaman will be released on Friday as a "gesture of peace".
