Congress candidate Shafi Parambil has won the Palakkad assembly seat in Kerala by 3,859 votes, defeating BJP candidate 'Metro Man' E Sreedharan, according to the Election Commission website.
According to the results updated on the Election Commission website on Sunday, Shafi Parambil has polled 54,079 votes, while his nearest Sreedharan of BJP has got 50,220 votes.
Palakkad is an Assembly constituency in the Palakkad district, in the Cochin region of Kerala. The Palakkad constituency went to the polls on April 6, 2021.

In the 2016 Assembly elections, Palakkad was won by Shafi Parambil of CPIM. Before that, in the 2011 elections, the seat was held by Shafi Parambil of INC. In the 2016 assembly polls, Shafi Parambil garnered 57559 votes, securing over 41.77 percent of the vote share, and winning the seat by a margin of 17483 votes.
In percentage terms, the victory margin was 12.69 percent. The constituency polled 137840 votes in the 2016 Kerala assembly polls with a voter turnout of 77.27 percent. The Palakkad constituency has a literacy level of 88.49 percent. A total of 6 candidates stood in the 2016 elections.
