Rajasthan Election 2023: BJP releases second list, Vasundhara Raje, Jyoti Mirdha and 83 candidates get tickets
Oct 21, 2023 6:40 AM

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday, October 21 released its second list of 83 candidates for the forthcoming Assembly elections in Rajasthan. Notably, this list features BJP's national vice-president and former chief minister Vasundhara Raje from Jhalarpatan.

Satish Punia will join the electoral contest in Amber, while Rajendra Rathore has opted to run from Taranagar, marking a departure from his previous Churu constituency.

The BJP has fielded Narpat Singh Rajvi to run for the Chittorgarh constituency, a departure from its previous decision of not renominating the five-term MLA for his Vidhyadhar Nagar seat. Additionally, Vishwaraj Singh Mewar, a descendant of Maharana Pratap Singh, has been chosen as the candidate for Nathdwara, a seat that was won by Congress veteran CP Joshi in the previous elections.

The party's candidate roster also includes Santosh Bawri for Anupgarh, Santosh Ahlawat for Surajgarh, Sushree Siddhi Kumari for Bikaner East, Anita Bhadel for Ajmer South, Shobha Chauhan for Sojat, and Deepti Maheshwari for Rajsamand.

Jyoti Mirdha, who switched from the opposition party Congress to the BJP, is set to contest the elections from Nagaur.

Earlier, on October 1, the party had released its first list of candidates for 41 constituencies in Rajasthan. In the list had notable leaders like Diya Kumari and Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore were featured. Diya Kumari is set to run in the upcoming elections from the Vidhyadhar Nagar constituency in Jaipur, while Rathore, a former Union minister and retired Army officer, has been nominated as the candidate for Jhotwara, also located in the Jaipur district.

With the Congress currently in power, Rajasthan is scheduled to hold its elections on November 23, with the results set to be announced on December 3, concurrently with four other states holding elections between November 7 and November 30.
