Sonia Gandhi chairs Congress Parliamentary Party meeting to discuss China border clash
Dec 21, 2022 6:15 AM

Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Wednesday chaired a meeting of all party MPs in Parliament to deliberate the strategy for the remainder of the Winter Session amid opposition's attack on the government over tensions along the India-China border.

During the parliamentary party meet, Sonia Gandhi reportedly expressed concerns over the Chinese transgression. She said, "The government is being adamant and not holding a discussion on it" and asked, "why is the government not sending out a financial reply to Chinese transgression".

The Congress will hold a demonstration later in the day in front of the Mahatma Gandhi statue in the Parliament complex to call for a dialogue on the border tensions. Other opposition party leaders are also likely to participate.

Party leader Mallikarjun Kharge, Congress leader in the Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, and all party MPs were present at the Congress Parliamentary Party meeting held in Parliament's Central Hall.

Since the commencement of the Winter Session on December 7, opposition parties have been demanding a discussion of the tensions along the India-China border and the most recent Chinese violations.
