Amazon Great India Festival and Flipkart Big Billion Day: Sales estimated to cross $2.5 billion in 2.5 days

Ecommerce giants Flipkart and Amazon could have sold over $1.5 billion worth of goods in just 2.5 days of the on ongoing sale, according to a report by research firm Redseer.

Redsteer expects the sales to reach $3 billion by the end of the five-day sale period.

According to the report, around $800 million worth of smartphones, $170 million worth of large appliances and $120 million worth of fashion have been sold so far during the festive days.

Flipkart is holding the fifth edition of its Big Billion Days sale from October 10 to 14, while Amazon Great India Sale started on the same day will continue till October 15.

Smartphones category steals the show on both the sites. Xiaomi sold more than a million devices in a day and OnePlus saw booking worth Rs 400 crore.

According to the research firm, about 20 million people are expected to shop on various e-commerce platforms during the five-day festive sale period.
