Dabur India expects rural demand will rise as benefits of all fiscal policies of the previous Narendra Modi government will reach to rural sectors in his second term, said CFO Lalit Malik.
Sharing his expectations from the Modi government, he added, “First of all, we need to help in terms of the exporters ease of doing their business in terms of making sure that they get their refunds well in time ensuring that there are good transport connectivity in forms of roads, in terms of inland transport, in terms of ports, in terms of airlines etc providing them better facility in terms of processes which will help to speed up the exports and the settlements, I think that is going to be very important going forward.”
Malik stressed that India, which is an agri-based economy, has to take steps to reduce wastage of food grains due to lack of warehousing. and the focus on storage specifically on the cold storage will help in terms of minimising that wastage and helping in terms of overall exports, that is going to be very important and with the fiscal incentives and the ease of doing business will help in terms of accelerating exports,” said Malik.
In terms of Agricultural produce market committee (APMC) act, he further mentioned, “I do expect that there will be changes which will facilitate in terms of pushing the exports and in terms of facilitating exports. Certainly, we do expect that there will be amendments and there will be benefits in terms of easing out the exports and improving the exports going forward.”
On minimum support price (MSP) Malik said, “MSP is a good way of providing better pricing for our farmers in the rural areas. However, it is important that it is executed well on the ground and our farmers do get that pricing. Therefore, I think the wide application of MSP on the agri-based production and speed of execution is going to be very important which will help in ensuring that they get a respectable price for their products.”
