Wi-Fi Alliance, the governing body of Wi-Fi technology, has finally come up with the next level security after 10 years, reported Times of India.
The industry body has introduced the new WP3 security protocol, which will make it difficult for the hackers to guess one’s password, the TOI reported on Thursday.
According to the report, the protocol would fix the loophole that allowed the hackers to guess one’s Wi-Fi password for as many times they wanted. With the new protocol, one will get a single password attempt.
All Wi-Fi devices have been using the same WP2 security protocol for the last 10 years, said the report.
The WPA3 security would come in two forms, WPA3-Personal and WPA3-Enterprise, reported the paper.
WPA3-Personal will offer password-based authentication even when users choose relatively easy password, while WPA3-Enterprise will offer the equivalent of 192-bit cryptographic strength, which provides additional protections for networks transmitting sensitive data.
