Tech major Apple released the first public beta of iOS 12 to its testing group, giving non-developers a chance to test the software ahead of the release this fall, reported MacRumors .

The first public beta of iOS 12 is expected to correspond to the second developer beta that was released last week, the report said.

The beta testers who have signed up the program will receive the iOS 12 update over-the-air.

The phone can be updated with the software only after the tester has installed a proper certificate on the iOS device, the report clarified.

According to the report, for those who are interested to join the beta testing program can sign up on Apple's beta testing website, which gives users access to iOS, macOS, and tvOS betas and before they install a beta, the user should make sure that he or she creates a full encrypted iTunes backup or an iCloud backup and install the iOS 12 on a secondary device.

This is because beta software is not always stable and is likely to include bugs.

The software will be available to developers and public beta testers as a beta for several months to so that Apple is able to spot kinks and bugs.
