Apple’s new lineup: iPhone 15, Watch Series 9 and upgraded AirPods Pro
Sep 12, 2023 6:51 PM

Apple’s New Releases: Apple unveiled new versions of its best-selling devices on Tuesday, amidst declining discretionary spending and increased restrictions on its flagship iPhone in China. The new products will be available from September 22, with the hope that they will top customers’ wish lists during the crucial holiday shopping season. (Reuters Photo)

iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus: Apple launched the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus, which have 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch displays, respectively, similar to their predecessors.

iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max: The premium iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max models, priced at Rs 1,34,900 and Rs 1,59,900 respectively, will feature an “action button” instead of the mute switch that can be customized for various functions. They will use titanium instead of stainless steel for the sidebars.

USB-C Charging Standard: In compliance with European law, Apple has switched to the USB-C charging standard from the current Lightning port on the new iPhones and AirPods Pro. This will make it easier for professionals to transfer high-quality video from the iPhone directly onto their hard drives. (Reuters Photo)

48-Megapixel Main Camera: All new models feature a 48-megapixel main camera. The flagship Pro Max has a 5X optical zoom and 3X telephoto capability. With the Pro devices, users can record “spatial” or three-dimensional videos that can be viewed on Apple’s upcoming Vision Pro headset.

Satellite Connectivity: The latest iPhones’ satellite connectivity can now be used to summon roadside assistance, a feature launched in the U.S. in partnership with the American Automobile Association.

A16 and A17 Bionic Chips: The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus are equipped with an A16 bionic chip, while the iPhone 15 Pro and the Pro Max are powered by an A17 pro chip. The hardware on the Pro line makes these devices suitable for high-end mobile gaming.

100% Recycled Cobalt Batteries: The batteries of the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus, which start at Rs 79,900 and Rs 89,900 respectively, are made of 100% recycled cobalt.

Watch Series 9 and Watch Ultra: Apple announced the Watch Series 9 and the second generation of Watch Ultra, which have the same dimensions as their previous variants.

S9 Chip: The latest watches are equipped with the next-generation S9 chip, capable of better animation and effects. This is the first processor upgrade since Apple released the Series 6 line in 2020.

Double Tap Feature: New features include “double tap”, a new gesture feature to control the watch without touching its face, improved dictation, and brightness.

Ultra 2 Improvements: Ultra 2 features a new customized watch face that provides more information on workouts, and an improved battery that lasts up to 36 hours on normal use and up to 72 hours on low-power settings.

Series 9 Pricing: The Series 9 starts at Rs 41,900, while the Ultra 2 is priced at Rs 89,900, maintaining the same price level as the previous base model.

Carbon Neutral Product: The Series 9 is Apple’s first carbon-neutral product. Starting this year, all watch manufacturing will be powered by 100% clean energy. Apple will also eliminate leather from all its products, including watch bands.

Second-Generation AirPods Pro: Apple released the second-generation AirPods Pro, priced at Rs 24,900. These will feature improved sound quality and double the active noise cancellation compared to their predecessor. They will also come in more ear-tip sizes.
