New integration lets guests order directly from Toast restaurants through Google's Ask Maps feature, fueling discoverability for operators

BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

Toast , the global technology platform built for restaurant and retail businesses, today announced an expanded integration with Google that brings agentic food ordering to Ask Maps, a conversational AI feature within Google Maps. When a diner asks—by voice or text—for a restaurant recommendation or specific food request, Ask Maps can now put a Toast restaurant's menu directly in front of them and carry that request all the way through to a completed order.

"At Toast, we're always looking for new ways to help our customers turn discovery into demand," said Kelly Esten, Chief Marketing Officer and Chief Operating Officer of Enterprise at Toast. "This integration with Google is a direct extension of that work, bringing a new agentic ordering experience to a discovery moment guests already rely on. Now, guests can go from searching within Google Maps to ordering from a Toast restaurant in one seamless motion, surfacing our customers' menus at the exact moment the guest is deciding what to order—creating opportunities to turn that attention directly into revenue with no extra work required from our operators."

This new experience is powered by an ongoing partnership between Toast and Google. Toast is a co-developer of the Universal Commerce Protocol (UCP) for Food, an open standard that's defining how AI agents discover, order from, and check out with restaurants across surfaces like Search, Maps, and Gemini, which will help evolve the conversational experience in Ask Maps in the future. Working alongside Google and other industry leaders, Toast is helping shape how agentic ordering works specifically for food and beverage, so that as the protocol expands, restaurants stay in control of their sales, menu, pricing, and guest relationships.

A mass discovery channel, built for action

For Toast restaurants, the Ask Maps integration can help turn searches for food in Google Maps into actual orders:

Discovery at scale: Toast restaurants appear directly within the Ask Maps experience, right where guests are already searching for their next meal.

From "find" to "do": Guests move from a simple search to a completed order in one continuous flow, helping discovery convert into revenue with minimal friction.

Commission-free growth: Orders placed through Ask Maps flow through Toast's first-party ordering system, helping operators grow order volume without adding third-party commission fees.

$5 in Toast Cash to jumpstart demand

To help drive early adoption, Toast is funding a promotional offer for guests: anyone who places an order through a Toast restaurant via Ask Maps will receive $5 in Toast Cash to use toward their next order at any participating Toast restaurant.1 Guests can redeem the offer in the Toast Local app, which empowers restaurants to connect directly with guests and turn first-time orders into repeat business.

Expected to begin in late August, guests can claim their promo by using Ask Maps in the Google Maps app to place orders at any Toast restaurant.
