The OVMed® ISP OH0131 features advanced image algorithms to optimize brightness, contrast, saturation, hue and sharpness, along with advanced noise reduction capabilities

SANTA CLARA, Calif., & SPRINGVILLE, Utah--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

OMNIVISION, a leading global developer of semiconductor technology, including advanced digital imaging, analog, and display solutions, and ATL Medical, Inc., a designer, developer and manufacturer of innovative medical devices, today announced that ATL is using the OVMed® OH0131 image signal processor (ISP) in its PREVOYANCE® Complete Imaging System with Chip-on-Tip® technology for arthroscope camera units.

ATL Medical’s PREVOYANCE® is a complete medical visualization assembly designed for customers who want to use a turnkey “white label” device that delivers high image quality to enable faster time-to-market at a lower cost. It is often paired with a full-featured camera control unit (CCU) for imaging, processing and storage. OMNIVISION’s OVMed® OH0131 ISP is purpose-built for medical imaging and is designed for easy implementation in handheld tablet consoles or CCUs. It supports multi-image configurations and addresses critical medical visualization requirements such as precise color fidelity, advanced noise reduction and stable performance across varying illumination conditions.

“The top challenges in medical ISPs center on delivering real-time, high-fidelity visualization while overcoming extreme environmental factors such as specular reflections, smoke, blood and shadows. Key obstacles include maintaining low-latency processing, handling high-volume data, and achieving accurate, automated segmentation and feature extraction during complex procedures,” said Ehsan Ayar, senior staff marketing manager for the medical segment at OMNIVISION.

“We are pleased to collaborate with OMNIVISION and leverage their expertise in advanced image processing for the PREVOYANCE® platform,” said Mike Anderson, vice president strategy, ATL Medical. “We’ve developed an off-the-shelf CCU that can be deployed standalone or be integrated into a customer’s existing platform, simplifying their design cycle while also improving the overall performance of their solution.”

OMNIVISION and ATL Medical collaborated to provide the complete imaging solution, which consists of a kernel board and a host:

The kernel board, designed by OMNIVISION, includes the OH0131 medical-grade ISP that receives raw images from the image sensors, processes them and forwards them to the host through a MIPI interface.

The host, designed by ATL, receives the images and displays them on the screen connected to the HDMI port.

ATL Medical complements the imaging subsystem with full system-level device integration, including optics, illumination, cabling, interconnects, distal-end fabrication and ergonomic handle design. This end-to-end capability allows OEMs to accelerate development timelines, reduce engineering risk and deploy imaging solutions that can be used as standalone systems or be integrated into existing platforms.

The OVMed® OH0131 ISP was originally launched in 2023 and has the following medical certifications: ISO 13585, RoHS, REACH, IEC 60601 (ESD, EMC, EMI, isolation) and EMS ISO 9001. It supports the full range of OMNIVISION medical image sensors, from 2-megapixel (MP) down to 200 x 200 resolution. It also supports OMNIVISION’s proprietary AntLinx® CMOS chip-on-tip endoscopy imaging and MIPI interfaces.
