Sept 17 (Reuters) - CFIUS, the Committee on Foreign

Investment in the United States, that is reviewing a bid by

Japan's Nippon Steel ( NISTF ) to buy U.S. Steel has

granted a request from the Japanese company to refile its

takeover application, a person familiar with the matter said on

Tuesday.

CFIUS needs more time to understand the impact of national

security and engage with the parties, the person added.
