Dutch PM Schoof sees "good result" from talks with US on export controls
Aug 16, 2024 7:06 AM

AMSTERDAM (Reuters) - The Netherlands' Prime Minister Dick Schoof said on Friday he expects a "good result" from ongoing talks with the United States on new measures to restrict exports of semiconductor equipment to China, without elaborating.

Washington has pushed the Netherlands to implement new restrictions, including asking that ASML, the largest maker of semiconductor manufacturing equipment, not be allowed to service some of the equipment it has already sold to Chinese customers.

"I expect from all the negotiations that we are going to have a good result ...(for) the Dutch manufacturers," Schoof said. The Dutch and U.S. governments have gradually implemented restrictions preventing ASML from exporting the top end of its product range to Chinese customers.
