European Equities Traded in the US as American Depositary Receipts Start Week Marginally Higher in Monday Trading

11:09 AM EDT, 05/20/2024 (MT Newswires) -- European equities traded in the US as American depositary receipts opened the week slightly higher Monday morning, rising 0.12% to 1,429.79 on the S&P Europe Select ADR Index.

From continental Europe, the gainers were led by biopharmaceutical companies Genfit ( GNFT ) and DBV Technologies ( DBVT ) , which climbed 11% and 7.5%, respectively. They were followed by biopharmaceutical company Calliditas Therapeutics ( CALT ) and internet advertising firm Criteo ( CRTO ) , which rose 2.7% and 0.4%, respectively.

The decliners from continental Europe were led by medical device maker EDAP TMS ( EDAP ) and biopharmaceutical company MorphoSys ( MOR ) , which fell 3% and 2.5% respectively. They were followed by electronics company Philips (PHG) and telecommunications company Nokia ( NOK ) , which lost 1.7% and 1.4% respectively.

From the UK and Ireland, the gainers were led by cruise line operator Carnival (CUK) and biopharmaceutical company Akari Therapeutics ( AKTX ) , which advanced 4.9% and 3.9% respectively. They were followed by biopharmaceutical company Biodexa Pharmaceuticals ( BDRX ) and pharmaceutical company Silence Therapeutics ( SLN ) , which increased 3.3% and 2.2% respectively.

The decliners from the UK and Ireland were led by biopharmaceutical companies Adaptimmune Therapeutics ( ADAP ) and Verona Pharma ( VRNA ) , which dropped 3.6% and 1.7% respectively. They were followed by insurance company Prudential (PUK) and biotech firm Trinity Biotech ( TRIB ) , which were down 1.5% and 1.3% respectively.
