Social media giant Facebook is about to set up a six-member India operations board, that will be treated on par with the one at its Menlo Park in the United States, the Mint reported.
The India office will no longer be part of Facebook's Asia Pacific operations and will also report directly to Menlo Park, the report said citing a person directly aware of the matter.
The development comes in light of stringent regulations on foreign internet companies in India following the spread of fake news on social media. India is one of the major markets for Facebook after the US.
The new Facebook India board comprises of Ajit Mohan as vice president and managing director; Sandeep Bhushan, director and head of global marketing solutions; Ankhi Das, policy director; Prashanth Aluru, strategy and operations director; Manish Chopra, director of partnerships; and Amrit Ahuja, director of communications, the report added.
