It's that time of the year when parents usually fret about their kids spending summer holidays playing computer games and watching television.
But some parents can use the time to bond with their kids, learn together, encourage them to make new discoveries and help them be responsible explorers of the web.
And all that with the help of Google.
Google India on Monday announced a fun, yet educational summer campaign that will help children across the country spend more time learning and making new discoveries, as well as teaching them how to become responsible explorers of the web.
As part of the campaign, named #SummerWithGoogle, Google will assign kids a total of four projects -- one each week -- so that it can select the brightest from the lot and give them a taste of the "Googly" culture that is part of its colourful offices.
"From exploring the country that is home to all the pandas in the world on Google Earth, to saying gracias and por favor as you learn phrases in Spanish and other languages on Google Translate; taking dramatic virtual tours of museums to make your own gallery on Google Arts & Culture and ultimately building your very own app to share your summer experience," the company in an open letter to parents.
Each assignment will carry questions on the four fundamental codes of being Internet Awesome and teach the young internet explorers a lesson or two on how to be -- Internet Smart, Internet Alert, Internet Strong, Internet Kind and Internet Brave, the letter said.
Since assignments will be linked to the previous one, its important for the young ones to take out that one hour in a week, and carry positive marking for every correct answer they give.
At the end of four weeks, Google will host a fun filled summer camp at Google’s Gurgaon and Hyderabad campus, flying upto 100 participants along with their guardians from across the country.
The assignments can be accessed on #SummerWithGoogle website and Google’s social media, the statement said.
