Higher Logic Launches AI Assistant to Turn Association Knowledge Into Instant, Always-On Member Value
Aug 11, 2026 6:19 AM

New AI experience helps members find reliable answers while giving associations control over sources, permissions, and support.

ARLINGTON, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

Higher Logic, a leading provider of engagement software, has launched AI Assistant, designed to help associations make their trusted knowledge easier to access. Drawing from sources the association selects and governs, AI Assistant delivers source-linked answers in natural language, helping members reach trustworthy content faster while allowing staff to focus on work that requires expertise, context, and judgment.

Associations hold professional expertise their members rely on, along with important information about membership, programs, events, standards, education, and policies. But that knowledge often lives across websites, publications, communities, learning platforms, and other systems. Members must know where to look, while staff spend valuable time answering the same questions.

AI Assistant lowers that search burden without asking associations to give up control. It brings content discovery, member support, and member context together in one experience for associations and their members, helping associations remain the trusted destination for answers.

"Not all of an association's knowledge is the same, and its AI shouldn't treat it that way," said Rob Wenger, CEO of Higher Logic. "Domain expertise, institutional knowledge, and internal operations all serve different audiences, from members to volunteer leaders to staff. Connecting AI to everything an organization knows isn't enough. It needs the structure and permissions to know what to use, when to use it, and who's allowed to see it. That's built into the design of AI Assistant."

AI Assistant is informed by three connected layers:

Member intelligence layer: Gives staff a more complete view of each member, providing the context needed to deliver more informed, personalized support.

Knowledge layer: Enables associations to configure, name, and brand their assistant while organizing and governing the content used to deliver trusted, source-linked answers grounded in the association’s official information. Sources can be uploaded directly or synced from integrated systems.

Support layer: Resolves common member questions using official responses set by the association or answers drawn from the knowledge layer. When an answer is not available, AI Assistant does not generate one; instead, it directs members to ask fellow members or association staff.

This launch is just the first of many innovations for AI Assistant. Higher Logic is actively expanding its capabilities, including built-in agents that take AI Assistant from surfacing information to taking action.

For example, if a member asks a question like "when does my membership expire," AI Assistant will be able to securely retrieve their member-specific details from the association management system and complete actions the association has enabled, such as helping members register for events.

AI Assistant is offered as both a standalone web solution and an integrated solution with Higher Logic Thrive Community. This launch builds on capabilities current customers use today, now with expanded governance and support automation.

Elizabeth Engel, Higher Logic’s Membership Product Advisor, who has worked supporting associations for nearly 30 years, shared: “Associations offer members an enormous amount of value, and we believe it should be easy for them to tap into it. Members shouldn't have to guess whether their answer is sitting on the website, in the community, or in a learning platform. They just want to ask the question. That's what AI Assistant gives them, an experience built around what they need, not where associations happen to store it."

See AI Assistant in action at ASAE Annual in Indianapolis (August 15–18) Booth #625 and AuSAE's ACE26 in Brisbane (August 26–28) Booth #35.
