BERLIN, Aug 7 (Reuters) - German chipmaker Infineon
said on Thursday it could not speculate on possible
semiconductor tariffs following a recent announcement by the
U.S. government, as no details have been disclosed yet.
President Donald Trump said on Wednesday the United States
would impose a tariff of about 100% on imports of semiconductors
but offered up a big exemption - it will not apply to companies
that are manufacturing in the U.S. or have committed to do so.
Infineon added in its statement that it would review the
trade measures once full details are released and take
appropriate action.
